SCHWERIN (dpa-AFX) – In view of the increasing number of corona infections, the teachers’ union VBE is looking forward to the first school start in Germany after the summer vacation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with mixed feelings. “Of course, we teachers also have a grumble when we think about starting school and at the same time see that the number of infections is increasing again,” said the state chairman of the Association for Education and Training (VBE), Michael Blanck, on Saturday. “And above all, we are worried about the carelessness that seems to be spreading in society.”
Even if all hygiene rules were consistently observed in the schools, it was already clear to the teachers “that after and even before school there will be a mixture of the groups, which are strictly separated in the schools”. He cited the school buses and stops as an example. The new school year had been prepared as best as possible in the schools under the given circumstances. “Now we have to start with confidence,” said Blanck. The schools are aware of the responsibility they have and that the start of school is closely monitored nationwide./fi/DP/zb
