BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – More than every third person in Germany is vaccinated against the corona virus at least once. According to the vaccination rate monitoring carried out by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Wednesday (as of 4.15 p.m.), 34.3 percent of people have received at least one corona vaccination.
According to the RKI, all agencies have so far administered a total of around 36.8 million vaccinations. Of these, almost 29 million were given for first vaccinations and another 8.3 million for second vaccinations. Accordingly, the rate of those who were completely vaccinated rose to 10 percent. On Tuesday, 1 047 865 vaccine syringes were reportedly given. On two other days in the past few weeks, the number of vaccine doses reported to the RKI had been more than one million within one day.
The vaccination rate varies depending on the federal state. The Saarland has the highest quota of at least first vaccinated persons at 38.7 percent. With 29.8 percent, Saxony is slightly behind the other federal states.
The vaccination campaign in Germany started at the end of last year. First it was the turn of people over 80, residents of old people’s and nursing homes and medical staff. Among other things, chronically ill people with an increased risk of a severe and fatal course are also given preference to vaccinate./jjk/DP/fba
