IRW-PRESS: Relay Medical Corp. : Relay Medical and Fio Partner with LifeLabs, Canada’s Healthcare Leader, to Deliver the Fionet Platform for COVID-19 Testing Nationwide
April 14, 2021 – Relay Medical Corp. (Relay or the Company) (CSE: RELA, OTC: RYMDF, Frankfurt: EIY2) and Fio Corporation (Fio) jointly announce the signing of an agreement with LifeLabs through their joint venture company, Fionet Rapid Response Group (FRR) LP (LifeLabs) known to provide the Fionet platform for rapid COVID-19 testing and real-time tracking across Canada.
LifeLabs is Canada’s largest provider of specialized laboratory testing services, laboratory diagnostic information and healthcare digital network systems that enable patients and physicians to diagnose, treat, monitor and prevent disease. The company supports 20 million patient visits annually and performs over 100 million laboratory tests using state-of-the-art technology and 6,000 employees.
The nationwide threat to personal and economic well-being posed by COVID-19 has created a need for innovation in technology and services. Through this partnership, LifeLabs and FRR bring automated, quality-controlled testing and tracking to every community – services previously only available in centralized laboratory facilities. FRR expects the Fionet platform to process hundreds of thousands of tests per month under this agreement, said Dr. Michael Greenberg, CEO of FRR and Fio Corporation.
We look forward to working with the Fionet Rapid Response Group at this critical time of the pandemic. While we see the continued availability of vaccines, the demand for COVID-19 testing remains high. This partnership is another big step in our collective effort to provide safe, accessible, and high quality testing for Canadians as we re-energize our economy as part of our WorkClear program, said Charles Brown, President and CEO of LifeLabs.
The Fionet platform enables fast, scalable, quality controlled tests and automatic digital results in real time for electronic reporting. Each Fionet device processes around 60 tests per hour exactly where they are needed. FRR’s business model is to charge a fee for every test processed through its platform.
Under the agreement, LifeLabs will deploy the Fionet platform at the community level in multiple locations across Canada, including airports, pop-up laboratories and small business facilities. The Fionet platform is integrated with LifeLabs ‘laboratory information system, ensuring seamless interoperability, and also with LifeLabs’ turnkey, end-to-end COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostic Testing (RDT) program, which Canadians return to the Workplace supports.
Yoav Raiter, CEO of Relay Medical says: With this agreement we are privileged to roll out the Fionet platform nationwide to provide Canadians with a testing solution that gives the country the confidence and support to return to daily life safely start. We have made rapid tests available to travelers, consumers and employees across Canada and we look forward to doing the same to other countries and communities around the world as the Fionet platform is ready for widespread use. This is a special moment for Relay as we are providing a new standard for rapid COVID screenings.
