FRIEDRICHSHAFEN (dpa-AFX) – With the “Interboot”, a trade fair on Lake Constance begins again for the first time on Saturday (10:00 am) after a month-long Corona break. The event on the topic of water sports will take place from September 19 to 27 at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Center with a different planning and a protection and hygiene concept. Among other things, only up to 8,500 visitors per day are allowed to visit the site. The number of exhibitors at around 200 is also significantly lower than in the previous year (468).
Nevertheless, trade fair boss Klaus Wellmann said that the first event since the ban in spring is being viewed with optimism. The program includes a sailing regatta on Lake Constance, seminars on stand-up paddling and the use of life jackets, as well as exercises in maneuvering boat trailers.
According to the German Boat and Shipbuilding Association, the industry will feel “tailwind” before the start of the fair. For German manufacturers, order numbers and sales rose sharply in the months after the start of the corona pandemic. The fact that trade fairs are now possible again is “extremely important,” says the association’s managing director, Claus-Ehlert Meyer: “That’s where we generate a large part of our sales.” / Fjm / DP / stw
