Huml for extending the Corona care protective umbrella until March | message

4

MUNICH (dpa-AFX) – According to Bavaria’s Minister of Health Melanie Huml (CSU), the federal corona care protective shield must be extended until March 31, 2021. An extension of this successful aid program only until the end of the year would be a fatal signal, she said with a view to relevant considerations at the federal level. “The pandemic continues – and it will pose great challenges for us even in winter.”

The aim is to protect the facilities, those in need of care and their relatives from financial overload and to give them security. “If the protective shield expires too early and the facilities then incur additional expenses or take less money, the providers only have two options: they can pass the costs on to those in need of care or close facilities. Both would ultimately burden the people in need of care and their relatives we have to prevent it, “said the Minister.

The care protection screen includes, among other things, relief for those in need of care. Approved care facilities can also have corona-related additional expenses or reduced income reimbursed by long-term care insurance. The regulations will initially apply until the end of September 2020. However, the Bundestag will shortly discuss an extension ./cor/DP/zb
