VILNIUS (dpa-AFX) – Lithuania will continue to cautiously relax the corona restrictions next week. In the Baltic EU country, shopping centers will then be allowed to remain open again on weekends and the restaurants in the outdoor area will now serve their guests an hour longer in the evening until 10 p.m. This was decided by the government in Vilnius on Wednesday. For outdoor events, the maximum number of participants has been doubled to 300. For indoor public events, where no more than a third of the seats should be occupied, the limit is 150. The number of participants allowed for private celebrations has also been increased slightly.
For those vaccinated, tested and recovered from corona, the government decided to further simplify the lockdown rules, which will continue until May 31. They are to come into force with the introduction of the Green Passport in Lithuania on May 24th. Under strict guidelines, it should then be possible to attend larger events and restaurants indoors with a certificate.
In Lithuania, with its almost three million inhabitants, almost 268,000 corona cases have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic, over 4,100 people have died of or with the virus./awe/DP/fba
