On April 22, Roger Ver made a commentary that annoyed some of the Bitcoin (BTC) fans via Twitter. Particularly emphasizing his preference for Bitcoin Cash.
Bitcoin vs. Bitcoin Cash
Roger Ver is known for being one of the earliest investors in Bitcoin (BTC) related startups. He was previously a staunch supporter of Bitcoin mass adoption, though he now promotes Bitcoin Cash (BCH) by claiming that it solves BTC’s problems.
In this way, Ver actively participates in the crypto community through various conferences and uses social networks to communicate with many of his followers.
BTC has a terrible user experience
It all started after three days ago, a Reddit user will comment on the platform about his bad experience acquiring some BTC.
In particular, the user claims to have acquired Bitcoin around 6 hours ago and did not yet have confirmations. Consequently, I was asking the Reddit community why they haven’t received their cryptos.
To the Reddit post, Roger Ver responded simply by noting that “Bitcoin Cash solves this problem”. However, he later went to Twitter to comment on the events.
“If Bitcoin still worked as money, I’d be happy to continue promoting it.”
“Today I would be ashamed to promote something with as bad user experience as BTC. That is why I now promote Bitcoin Cash.Roger Ver said via Twitter.
To which, Alistair Milne, an investor who supports Bitcoin, replied that he should be ashamed of the status of Bitcoin Cash, referring to the hashrate decline and 51% attacks the network has suffered in the past.
What is the difference between them?
Bitcoin was born in 2008, in the midst of the global financial crisis. From day one it has been presented as an alternative to Fiat money. However, the main problem that arises for BTC is its scalability.
The small size of Bitcoin blocks causes bottlenecks to be generated in the transactions carried out with the cryptocurrency. Consequently, they do not run quickly, they accumulate and increase the commissions paid by users to transfer money.
Therefore, it is precisely for this reason that Bitcoin Cash is born as a BTC hard fork. Thus Bitcoin Cash (BCH) maintains substantial differences, mainly that the blocks were increased from 8 MB to 32 MB.
It is precisely the above difference that allows BCH to have faster operations than BTC. However, BCH also has some issues that don’t make it as attractive.
Consequently, the crypto world is divided between BTC lovers and BCH lovers. Roger Ver is certainly on the side of Bitcoin Cash.
