Soccer legend Lionel Messi will be commemorated for the first time with a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This will be known as the NFT collection authenticated with the name “The Messiverse” or “the Messiverso” in Spanish.
Messi has accomplished almost everything in his sports career, and now you can tell that there is even a collection of NFT tokens under his name. Many consider him worldwide as the best soccer player at 34 years old.
More details on Lionel Messi’s NFTs
The authenticated NFT collection, dubbed “The Messiverse,” will be available from 21:00 UTC on August 20 on the Ethernity Chain blockchain platform.
However, the popularity of Messi has made that on previous occasions NFT have emerged with allegory to his name or image in some way. Already in the past month Ethernity Chain had launched a collection to celebrate Argentina’s victory over Brazil in the Copa América. Indeed, and as one would expect, they released one of the collectibles with Messi as the captain of the winning team.
Specifically, “The Messiverse” consists of four works of art by Australian artist Bosslogic, who has previously worked for Marvel and Disney. It seems that Ethernity Chain has already been working with and for soccer fans for a while, as in May they released an NFT of Pelé, another world soccer legend.
The very popularity of Lionel Messi makes us think that this NFT could be quite successful and that it could be the predecessor of many others. As we know, the world of non-fungible tokens is just beginning and its limits do not seem obvious on the horizon of the current world.
At the end of the day many factors influence the valuation that an NFT can have, but without a doubt, the sports and music fan sector is a possible safe niche for these special assets. Would you buy one from Messi or from your favorite team or band? How much would you be willing to pay for it?
