The American entrepreneur, better known as Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson, expressed that Ethereum (ETH) could have developed smoothly with the addition of Snow White’s Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus.
In a recent interview with international media, Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson discussed a possible early update that could have made a big difference to the poor news on the Ethereum Blockchain.
Ethereum more efficient if Buterin used the “Snow White”
According to Hoskinson, if Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of ETH, Russian-Canadian programmer and writer, had applied the consensus of Proof of Stake (PoS) Snow White, developed by Elaine Shi, it would have accelerated the development of Ethereum 2.0.
The biggest problem for him is that he has not been divided and conquered within the flayers. Like, for example, the development of Casper.
“With Casper, Vitalik could have followed in Cornell’s footsteps and Elaine Shi. They wrote a great protocol, called ‘Snow White’, it is a competitor to our ‘Ouroboros’ (Cardano’s PoS consensus) ”, expresses the creator of ADA.
“Buterin is selling to ETH”
On the other hand, Elaine Shi is a professor at Cornell University, one of the most evolved Blockchain centers in the United States.
In 2016, she co-authored a White Paper on the PoS Snow White Consensus, which “Provides the first formal test of a Proof Of Stake system in a decentralized and open participation network”. Nodes can join at any time, even after creating the system.
According to Hoskinson, this would address the “limited academic rigor” that has prevailed with the development of ETH. So, for both authors, Ethereum would be better with PoS, more efficient.
Instead, Buterin could have had the outstanding scientists who were deeply interested in the problem create a beautiful consensus algorithm for him. “Hoskinson said. Leaving you free to focus on developing the rest of the business and technology surrounding the Ethereum Foundation.
But this has not been the case, as we have observed, ETH is losing more and more advantage vs. its competitors. For example, EOS and TRON. This, due to the slowness with which the necessary updates are made a reality in the Blockchain of the cryptocurrency that today occupies the second place.
However, Hoskinson said Buterin had other ideas:
“Now, he wanted to develop Casper himself, which meant he divided his time between being a CEO, being an engineer, and being a scientist. He tried to go and develop something he had no experience with, he had to learn the whole theory by himself, even being a genius. Everything takes time. ”
Hoskinson concluded that improving a solid foundation rather than developing something new from scratch could have saved Ethereum a lot of time and effort, thus avoiding the delays that have plagued the project.
Furthermore, it hopes that once ETH finds its way to PoS. Ethereum would be better, much more efficient, and could leave all your problems behind.
