It is important to note that one of the factors that must always be present is that of an intake of fresh air. The absorption power of machine fans is generally stronger than the generating power of air conditioners. This reaffirms the need for an ambient air intake.
What are the Bitcoin ASICs that need air conditioning?
It is believed that ASIC machines for Bitcoin mining must be permanently air-conditioned. The truth is that this equipment is designed to work at high temperatures, so cold air is not as essential as natural air circulation is.
If we take as an example the most popular mining machines, the S9, these are the most resistant models. They can work under the most adverse conditions and with high temperatures. Of course, the life span could be shortened, but irreversible damage could occur only in very extreme cases.
These machines can work perfectly with a temperature of 85 °. This means that they are usable in the average climate of Latin America. In other words, if the S9s are used on a farm and the temperature of the S9 is hovering between 70 and 80 degrees, the use of air conditioning is completely unnecessary.

Preventing the latter from happening is, in general terms, more important than adapting the air conditioning. A more efficient mining farm could be one that separates ambient air from hot air, making it impossible for the latter to return to the front fans of the Bitcoin mining ASICs.
With a free air inlet, which goes directly to the front fans, the equipment would work at a stable temperature. In countries with cool climates, conditions, of course, radically improve in this way.
The less use of air conditioning, in short, considerably reduces operating expenses. The negative side, on the other hand, is the fact that the maintenance and cleaning of both the machines and the accommodation space is a mandatory requirement due to the entry of dust and insects.
Another way to keep ASICs cool is what is known as immersion Bitcoin mining or Immersion Cooling. It is an unconventional technique according to which mining equipment is submerged in non-conductive liquid or dielectric oil.
In this way, with the help of some instruments such as tanks or pumps, the mineral oil keeps the machines cool. So far, this technique has no known defects. On the contrary, the benefits appear to be extraordinary.
First of all, with Immersion Cooling, machine fans become unnecessary, reducing energy consumption. The technique allows ASICs to be kept at an average temperature of 40 °, which greatly improves the computing power of Bitcoin mining equipment.
At the same time, it keeps them dust-free, that is, absolutely clean, which lengthens the useful life to the maximum. Under this scenario, the costs of cooling by air conditioning and insulation are also eliminated, since the sound of the equipment is eliminated by 100%.
