Today appears to have been a rough day in the crypto market after crypto took a step back and major crypto exchanges Coinbase and Binance reported problems on their platforms.
Incidents in the crypto market
In yesterday’s Crypto Roundup we reported how Bitcoin was once again flirting with the key $ 12K level. However, once again the gallant has been rejected.
The cryptocurrency was slapped and dropped to a today’s low of $ 11,299. It is currently valued at $ 11,356 according to the CryptoTrend tool, Crypto Online.
This was followed by similar declines in the crypto market, such as Ethereum, XRP, Chainlink, and Polkadot.
As if this wasn’t enough, the situation got a lot more complicated on Ethereum as transaction fees reached a new high.
Just yesterday we talked about how ETH miners made $ 500,000 in an hour; Today that mark is broken after they earned $ 800 thousand dollars an hour today, reported Glassnode.
In this regard, Binance reported early that they were aware of some difficulties in accessing Binance.com. Later, Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, reported that they were working on it.
Before long, Zhao or CZ reported that there were still long lines for ETH and ERC20 withdrawals. Therefore, it suggested that its users consider other networks.
This is how CZ assured that it was a very busy day with high levels of traffic, congestion on the Ethereum network and much more.
Likewise, Coinbase, the US crypto exchange, also reported that it was experiencing incidents on its platform that prevented the sending of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and 22 other cryptocurrencies. However, soon after, the crypto exchange reported having fixed the problem.
Pornhub will accept Bitcoin and Litecoin
Pornhub announced via Twitter that the platform has decided to accept Bitcoin and Litecoin as a means of payment for those who decide to subscribe to the premium version of the platform.
“To further expand our crypto options for Pornhub Premium, we are pleased to announce that we now accept Bitcoin and Litecoin as payment methods”, he pointed the Tweet.
Recall that previously Pornhub had already integrated cryptos such as Verge (XVG), Tron (TRX) and PumaPay (PMA) to its platform.
Watch out! New malware could be very close
A report was published today by the firm ESET where the discovery of a new strain of malware called KryptoCibule is established and is specifically directed towards crypto users.
According to research, it is a very dangerous malware. First, install a miner to perform cryptojacking. Subsequently steal any file that is involved in your crypto wallet and extract the funds.
But, it doesn’t end there. The malware also replaces the wallet address and consequently any incoming payment is hijacked by hackers.
Watch out! This malware apparently spreads through torrent files.
Crypto exchange Bithumb has been raided and its president arrested
One of the main catalysts for today’s busy day may have been this. Today a South Korean newspaper reported that the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency had raided Bithumb, the largest crypto exchange in South Korea.
According to the local media report, Bithumb is being investigated for fraud. In fact, apparently Lee Jung Hoon, president of Bithum Holdings and Bithumb Korea, has been arrested earlier today.
Apparently today’s stocks are connected to the presales of the native Bithumb tokens in 2018 that were never listed.
However, for the moment, information is limited in the crypto community.
